Hello, I’m Carly!

I’m passionate about creating intuitive and accessible user experiences, as well as building strong, collaborative design communities. I have a proven track record of delivering successful projects for clients in the financial services sector and beyond.

I’m currently at Citibank as a Lead UX Designer for Functions Technology. Previously, I simplified complex enterprise products for Global Spread Products as a Senior UX Designer at Citibank within the Institutional Clients Group. For several years, I led the usage workstream for the ICG Design System.

Prior to Citi, I led user experience at RelPro, a startup with a B2B SaaS platform to help financial services professionals conduct research. I’ve also mentored over 60 career changers to become successful UX designers while working at General Assembly.

When I’m not designing, I’m spending time on dog walks, checking out the newest art exhibitions, and hiking in the Hudson Valley.

Design values

An ongoing practice

Teamwork.png

Create collaboration
Designs are only as strong as their teams. Seek out diversity for different perspectives to approach problems and uncover biases. We thrive on connection, it’s better to solve problems together.

Growth.png

Cultivate a growth mindset
Experience discomfort from stretching personal boundaries of familiarity. Allow failure to be a learning experience. Seek out experiences that challenge assumptions and biases. When in doubt, ask questions.

Playfulness.png

Foster creativity with play
Allow freedom of exploration of new ideas and ways of thinking. Invoke a child-like mindset to play to explore the many potential ways to solve a problem. There’s time later to get prioritize and refine ideas.

Practice presence
Listen to others clearly, without judgment or filters. By being more present in the moment, we can be more flexible, and adapt as needed to changing needs or environments.

Consider the big picture
Ask the big questions: is this design truly solving the problem? Is there a better solution? What are the external and long-term impacts?

Heart.png

Prioritize kindness
Empathy is always a “must-have.” Solutions should serve others. Create designs that are inclusive, that respect and value all.
